Business Issue

A multinational automotive brand launched an advanced online platform to streamline commercial vehicle management for fleet decision-makers and drivers, embedding telematics and data analytics to provide users with comprehensive insights.

More than a year after launch, the company suspected the platform was not completely meeting users’ needs and wanted clarity on how to improve its offering. So, the global automaker turned to Escalent to conduct user experience (UX) testing to uncover usability challenges, pinpoint areas for optimization, and inform future development priorities to ensure the platform not only met current user needs but was also competitive in the market for winning new customers.

What We Did

We upleveled traditional UX testing by first leveraging Escalent’s existing Fleet Advisory Hub™ syndicated research data on fleet decision-makers’ attitudes, consideration, and adoption of core and emerging fleet technologies to:

  • Illuminate the intricacies, complexities, and challenges of running a commercial vehicle fleet
  • Deliver a detailed picture of real-world market needs and expectations for connected fleet management solutions
  • Equip our client with deeper contextual understanding of what fleet professionals’ want from a commercial vehicle management system

Using these broader market insights as a foundation, we developed a targeted discussion guide to dig deep into key areas during our qualitative interviews with select fleet customers so we could use the insights to better inform the actual UX research itself.
